aula walked through the the room to the cargo hold where kyra was waiting for her. kyra blindfolded aula and she took out her lightsaber. "okay aula, you have to sence them with the force." kyra said aula swang her lightsaber behind herself in a rotating sequence and slices a droid in half. "thats it aula!" kyra exclaimed she sliced another in half. one droid charged at her through the air! pftwinck! she slashes it into pieces and one cuts her arm. "ouch!" aula yelled in pain, cuting it in anger. "focus aula! feel the force." kyra told her she began to focus as hard as she can. in a few quick slashes, all of them were on the floor destroyed. "great work aula! your training is over for now, why don't you go check on hickory and see how she is doing." kyra suggested. "thank you master, i will." aula went into the next room where hickory was struggling with the creation of her lightsaber. "hey hickory how are you doing with your saber?"

"Er..." Hickory didn't want to talk about how she'd completely forgotten the reason they were going to some cave. "Fine..." She lied, glancing at the materials she had yet to pick from. There were so many, but she wanted to find them on her own, get them with her own strength. "When we get to Dantooine, I'm going to look for some more materials." It was almost a lie, but still remained honest.

"i could sense a lie, i see it in your eyes hickory. what are you having trouble with?" aula said worriedly. aula was a person who hated being lied to. she hates it so much she could kinda sense it through the force.

Hickory rubbed her head nervously. "I uh... kinda built it... and forgot all about the crystal... Eh heh..." She knew her successor would be disappointed in her. She knew Aula hadn't the same trouble when she was Hickory's age. She knew that Aula knew that she knew that she thought that was true.

Kyra went into the pilot's chambers and sank down on her bed. She cradled her head in her hands and sighed deeply. Viera's death had hit her hard. She was a great Jedi, and an amazing friend. The Clone Wars had been rough, but somehow all of her close friends had come out of it alive. Jerich, Jaiden, Kyra and Viera. Friends since the Bear Clan, all those years ago. She ran her fingers up through her brown hair. But now Viera was gone. Kyra was never as strong as the rest of them, never as cunning, or as brave.
I shouldn't be like this. Kyra told herself, wiping silent tears from her eyes. My apprentices need me to be strong for them. We're fugitives now, wandering nomads, destined to never have a home again. Not like the Temple.
Just then the comm unit in the corner started beeping, indicating an incoming message. She was surprised to find that the receiever was recognizing what she knew to be a secret Jedi Encryption, one of the few that remained safe since the fall of the Jedi Temple. She had heard on the holonet that someone had deleted most of the Jedi Archives, and their secret codes along with it.
Kyra wiped at her eyes angain and pressed the button. A six-inch tall holographic image appeared on the displaying pad, and Kyra allowed herself a half smile when she saw who it was. Tall with brown eyes, long black hair, the Jedi on the holoimage wore an emerald tunic beneath his Jedi Robes in the traditional Corellian fashion. "Jerich. What are you doing comming me? Any message sent across the holonet could be screened and used to track you down."
"I appreciate the concern Kyra, but I'm confident my encryption will hold up. The Empire doesn't have slicers smart enough to crack my code." The image returned her half-smile with it's own handsome one. "Besides, i needed to make sure you were okay. Didi and Astri told me you were headed to Viera's location."
"You felt it too."
The holoimage nodded gravely, crossing his arms. "How are you holding up?"
Kyra bit her lip, nodding. "I'm fine." But Jerich could tell that she wasn't.
"You saw it, didn't you?" Jerich didn't need her to answer, he knew already.
"It was a Dark Jedi...that killed her."
Jerich's frown deepened. "How did he...? Did she die honorably?"
"He... decapitated her. "
"Oh Sithspit." Jerich cursed, rubbing his eyes.
"She fought him off as much as she could...." Kyra's voice cracked. "We were leaving the system with the Dark Jedi on our tail. I could sense his presence in the ship. We jumped quickly, but I don't know if he got enough information about our trajectory to follow us."
"How's Hickory?"
"She's doing okay I guess. She's been kind of withdrawn lately. And I'm looking after Aula'ona now, since Master Davin died."
"Listen, I'm staying with family in Doaba Guerfel." Jerich told her. "You should come join me, at least until things settle down."
"Thank you for the offer." Kyra told him. "Maybe we'll see you there after Dantooine. Hickory's going to be crafting her first lightsaber."
"Wish her luck for me." He told her with a lopsided grin. A normal Jedi had no need for luck, but Jerich Ruhan was a Corellian afterall.
"May the Force be with you my friend."
"And with you."

Dacklis opened the door to a walk-in closet and ducked his head inside. Contained in the room was Dacklis' own personal armory. Stacked along the walls were rows of blasters, grenades, and vibro-weapons. It was uncommon for a Force user to equip himself with anything other than a lightsaber, but in Dacklis' line of work, one needed all the firepower one could get.
Dacklis selected a high powered blaster pistol, a thermal detonator, and a small vibro-knife. He tucked the pistol into a holster clinging to his waist, and strapped the detonator to the back of his belt. Finnally, he strapped the knife to the inside of his boot. He also selected a handful of non-weapons, including macro binoculars, rations, and a homing beacon.
Finnally satisfied, Dacklis stepped out of the armory and locked its door.
This Jedi would not escape.

Kyra landed her YT-1760 Frieghter, the Defender of the Dead softly on the broken pavement outside the old Jedi Enclave. Her ship had been named after a person of great importance on her homeworld of Melida/Daan. Cerasi was a legend when she was born, a great martyr for the cause of the Youth League. It was said that her death touched more hearts on either side of the war than any amount of destruction could ever do. She remembered hearing about her when she grew up in the catacombs beneath her world from an older boy who witnessed her death. Cerasi had sought peace, but each side blamed the other for her murder, causing the endless wars of the planet to grow even more heated. If Cerasi had lived, she heard the Youth League leader mumble once, then she sould have found a way to end the war.
Kyra powered down the Defender's systems one by one, and stood meeting her apprentices by the hatch with a pack full of rations and supplies. Her own lightsaber had taken two days to build. Kyra would be prepeared for as long as Hickory needed. She rest a hand on Hickory's shoulder encouragingly. "Are you ready my Padawan?"

Hickory gulped. "Yes. I'm ready." She honestly didn't know how she was supposed to do any of this, but first of all, she would need some materials. Where would she get them though? Kyra had once mentioned her handle being built out of a tree, so maybe she needed wood? Quite possibly. She scanned the area for trees, but found they had landed in a clearing. The closest tree was a league away, and even if she was any closer, she didn't know what she was doing. 'I guess I'll just have to use what Kyra got.' she thought, looking at the materials her master had told her to choose from earlier. Before landing, she had created a plan B, and chosen which pieces she would want to use. Now for the hard part. "Kyra? How, exactly, am I going to do this whole crystal thing?"

"The Dantooine Crystal Cave is about a half-hour's walk from here." Kyra told her, leading them off through the clearing. The clearing was surrounded by hills and clifs far too high to climb on two sides, and the enclave on the other so the path was relatively straightfoward. Just follow the open land northwest, and it would be there. "The crystal cave is a phenomenon that the Jedi utilized over a thousand years ago. The cave is rich in the Force, and creates these beautiful crystals that can be used as a focus for your crystal. Once inside, I want you to select a few crystals, and with them and your other parts enter a meditative state. Use the Force to bond with the crystals, and use the one that compliments your Force presence the most. The crystal you choose will affect the color of your lightsaber as well."
As she finished speaking they came into sight of the cave. Kyra smiled at her. "Don't be nervous. This is a very personal task and you can take as long as you need. Aula and I will keep guard over you, protecting you from the natural predators that roam this area."

Two hours after the Jedi had arrived at Dantooine, a new kind of predator arrived in the system. And this one was anything but natural.
The Affliction dropped out of hyperspace. Hope I guessed right, thought Dacklis as he turned to his sensors. Searching for life forms would not give him the results he needed, as Dantooine was brimming with them. Instead, he switched the sensors to search for manufactured metals. The sensors found a lot of material, mostly from the equipment on the farms scattered around the planet. There was also a lot from the recent Battle of Dantooine. He narrowed down his search, looking for a medium sized freighter. After a few minutes, his sensors found only one on the entire planet's surface. Grinning, Dacklis plotted a course for the ship's coordinates.
The predator was about to meet the prey.

Hickory paused. That cave, even though she had been told it was a good place, just felt ominous to her. As if there was someone just waiting there that would just jump out, and attack them at any second. She gulped, and shook the thoughts off. It was nothing... wasn't it? "Kyra, Aula.... I'm ready. Let's go!" She started for the cave, stopping at the entrance to turn around and watch Kyra and Aula follow. She doubted she was ready for whatever secrets the cave held, but no matter what, she would face it.

A few kilometers away, The Affliction was gliding over a vast expanse of trees when Dacklis sighted a small clearing in the middle of the forest. He angled his ship towards it and landed upon its soft grass.
The landing ramp landed and Dacklis emerged from the inside of his ship, Mynock in tow. He took his first breath of Dantooine air. Then, drawing his hood up, he made his way into the darkness of the forest.

Kyra and Aula took up guard positions around Hickory, protecting her against any kath hounds that happened upon them. Eventually they found their way at the center of the winding cave to a room filled with crystals that seemed to glow with their own internal lights, in every color of the visible spectrum.
"Wait outside, Aula. I'll be right there." Aula nodded and left the chamber.
Kyra sat Hickory's pack down and smiled at her. "Make yourself comfortable Hickory." She took her apprentice by both shoulders. "Remember, take as much time as you need. Feel the Force flowing through you, let it bond you to a crystal." She spoke in gentle affectionate tones, but not condescendingly. Hickory was a Jedi Trainee, and altough she was learning Kyra would never treat her like a child.
I'm still learning, in many ways... "You know, I'm proud of you. These past few months have been tough on everybody, but you've proven yourself to be an understanding and capable young woman. I know it's different having Aula around, and during the war..." She sighed. "I'm sorry for not taking you on missions more often. I should have. And I know it intimidates you that Aula's had more experience, but I want you to understand something. You are my padawan first and foremost, and you do make me proud." She grinned. "Even if this takes you a month to do, you still make me proud."

Tracking Jedi was difficult. Especially so after the Order had been destroyed and the survivors fled into obscurity. Over the past few months they had grown proficient at cloaking themselves in the Force, making an Inquisitor's job all the more different.
For Dacklis, however, this only served to make the hunt more interesting. He silently made his way through the trees. Few ventured into this forest, as evident by the lack of paths, and this slowed Dacklis down considerably. The forest had overgrown tremendously, and very little sunlight made it past the trees to the forest floor. It was a perfect place to hunt. Dacklis continued to melt into the forest.

"With the enclave destroyed, the Sith Empire occupied the planet, until the Empire collapsed a year later. Five years from then, the planet was soley occupied by farmers, scavengers and mercenaries. It is rumored that after the First Jedi Purge, some of the remaining Jedi may have made their way back to Dantooine."
Dacklis nodded as Mynock continued to recite the history of Dantooine. Allready though, Mynock's thorough report was beginning to annoy him, and there were still 4,000 years left to explore. Dacklis cut to the chase.
"So what do you think the Jedi is doing here?"
"Analyzing..." A moment later, Mynock spoke up. "While the Jedi enclave was bombarded and severely damaged, enough of it still remained that scavengers continued to search the wreckage for decades later. In fact, it still remains today, more or less intact. The Jedi may inted to search the rubble for something. An ancient Jedi relic, possibly. If Jedi came to the cnclave after the first purge, they may do so now."
Dacklis nodded to himself. He made a mental note to reccomend that the enclave be fully demolished, lest some ancient Jedi information be discovered that the Jedi might use against the Empire. Dacklis smiled. Not until after he had investigated the ruins himself, of course.
"In that case, I suggest that we-oh dear." Dacklis looked up. Mynock seemed to have frozen in the air.
"What is it Mynock?"
"I appear to be stuck." Mynock replied.
Dacklis frowned and stretched out his senses. Using the Force, he saw that Mynock had unwittingly wandered into a giant spiderweb suspended between two trees. It was held together by near-invisibe strands of silk. Dacklis frowned even more. Whatever had made this web had been huge.
"Hold on, Mynock" he said, drawing his lightsaber and igniting it to cut him down.
Suddenly Dacklis felt the wind knocked out of him, as he was propelled through the air to his left, his flight just as suddenly interrupted by a tree trunk. Dacklis looked up to see what had hit him.
It stood three meters tall on eight legs. Its two body segments were a deep black color. Venom dripped from its fangs as it hungrily lowered its head down to Dacklis' eye level. Dacklis saw that he was well and truly screwed.
He reached down to his belt to draw his saber, but realized with horror that his saber was nowhere to be found. It must have been knocked out of his hands when the spider had attacked him.
Correction. Now he was truly screwed.

(oh snap. Just let me know when to pop in for the party XD)
"It will take as long as it takes." Kyra told the twi'lek. "Although Hickory is a very promising young woman, so I don't think it will be long at all. "
She hoped it wasn't long. She had a bad feeling that had been growing since their encounter with the dark-jedi up in space. She hoped they hadn't been followed.

(I find your lack of capital letters disturbing.)
Kyra let her pack fall off her shoulders, and started to pull out the supplies necessary for them to make camp. Nothing's right, not since Palpatine declared himself Emperor. "Aula, we have to be very careful. I know we've talked about this before...but we are enemies of the Empire. One wrong move could bring Vader and his Dark Jedi down on us." She sighed deeply. "We have to be very careful, and I just hope that we weren't followed."
