(Okay, this is the official RPG thread. Most of you know how this works, and the rest of you just need a memory refresher. So here's the deal: - All OOC (Out of Character) Posts are to be made in parenthesis. ie. (Would she really do that?)
- All civilian characters, like Duncan or Taryn can be used by anyone at this time. If someone decides to claim the character then it becomes theirs alone.
- For the time being we're going to assume that this is year one at the Xavier Institute. Students will be attending Bayville High School during the day and attending powers training at the Institute.
- Not all characters will be made immediatly available. Because the Brotherhood and the X-men are competing for recruits, as a character becomes noticed through Cerebro they will be brought into the story. When it's your character's turn to have abilities emerge, I will PM you to let you know.
- The starting lineup will be as follows: Teachers: Professor X, Storm, and Wolverine (wolverine is up for grabs and can be used in moderation by anyone until taken). Students: Scott Summers, Jean Grey. Kurt Wagner will be arriving on Day one by train.)
The sun filtering in through the window, along with the chirping of songbirds outside the Xavier Mansion woke her up before her alarm clock could even go off. She sat up, reaching over to turn it off anyway, not wanting to listen to the headache-inducing noise before slipping out of bed and into some fresh clothes. Today was the first day at Bayville High. She'd spent the summer here at the Xavier Institute, ever since he had arrived at her front door to help her and her parents understand the strange things that had been happening to her. At the time she was afraid. She had witnessed the death of her best friend, and had been inside her head when it had happened. Professor Xavier had come to her with answers, and understanding, and she was constantly grateful for that. But today she was just excited about the first day at Bayville High. New teachers, new classes. She was glad that her powers wouldn't be a problem for her here, now that she could control them. She quickly finished brushing her hair before leaving her room to head downstairs. She decided to walk to school this morning, despite the distance. Bayville High was full of students when she entered. She was turning a corner, lost in thought, when she bumped into someone, sending them both stumbling backwards. She blinked in surprise, looking across at the red-tinged sunglasses of her friend and fellow student. "Oh, sorry Scott. I guess I wasn't really paying attention." ~*~ He folded his hands in front of him in thought as he stared over the breakfast table to the television built into the far wall. It didn't seem that there was anything of particular interest today, not on the television at least. Today however, they would be recieving a new student, and he hoped that his current ones, Scott Summers and Jean Grey would be receptive and welcoming to the boy. The Institute had been founded on the principal of acceptance, and that is what he had passionatly told the fifteen year old when he had traveled to Germany to discuss his unique abilities and extend a hand in friendship. The boy was for obvious reasons nervous about leaving his home, and that thought made Charles Xavier frown. That was something that noone should be afraid of, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or a mutant gene. He took a sip of coffee, as he waited for Ororo to join him at the table.

"The first day back at school, man I almost forgot how this place looked." Scott said looking from right to left. "I really wasn't looking forward to getting back here so fast."
He took a look around, bringing back many memories. There were so many people he had almost forgotten about. Teachers, classmates, friends and enemies alike, yet in some way he was almost glad to be back at Bayville. It was like a whole other world to him, yet in some ways it was better. Just being seen as a normal person by so many was a great concept to him.
Thinking about the year ahead, he started to get excited. All of the possibilities in front of him was almost overwhelming.
"So, looking forward to another fun filled year here?" he asked, turning towards Jean.

Jean smiled, waving to a friend as they walked by before turning back to Scott with a genuine smile. "Of course. Senior year. It's going to be great what with all the milestones, and hopefully this year we'll take the Hawks back to the finals. Soccer tryouts are tommorrow. They're really wasting no time this year."

"Really? Soccer tryouts already. They're really going to have some team with all this time to practice." he said. Pulling out his wallet he desperately searched. "There!" he exclaimed pulling out a dollar. He turned to his left and placed the dollar in a vending machine and pressed F7. "Fritos! My favorite. So are you going to try out for anything this year?"

"That is sarcasm right?" She laughed lightly, amused at his remark and his uncanny appreciation of Frito chips. "If I didn't try out for everything everyone would probably be dissapointed."
Jean was a natural athlete. Sure she worked hard at it, but she had a lot of talent that got her far as a forward in soccer, a pitcher in softball and all around in track and field. Traditionally that was just against the girls, but she couldn't suppress the thought that she could probably outplay most (if not all) of the men's soccer team at least.
"What about you Scott?" She asked, brushing a strand of red hair from her eyes. "Do I see a sports trophy in your future?"
"Yeah Summers," Seemingly out of nowhere a blond senior in a letterman's jacket appeared, throwing an arm around Jean's shoulders. He smirked, baiting Scott. "You gonna grow enough guts to even try out for a team this year, or are you going to continue your loser streak from the sidelines?"

"Wow! Who would have thought you'd remember my loser streak after getting hit in the head so hard in all those games last year." Said Scott as a smirk appeared on his face.
"I think i'll just sit this one out again" he said turning toward Jean "Besides, that'll give me more time to watch you win all your trophies."
He reached into the bag and grabbed a few more chips. After all, if he lost his glasses in the middle of a game nobody would benefit from it; though it would make the game a whole lot more interesting.
"So which ones are you planning to go out for, or do you plan on doing them all again?" He laughed thinking about two years earlier.
Jean had gone for all the sports there were at Bayville, making them all. She even went as far as being captain of two of them.

She smiled at Scott, grateful that he hadn't taken the bait too heavily. She didn't know what was up between him and Duncan. It seemed like ever since the summer began they had been at one another like two dogs fighting for a scrap of meat. She couldn't understand it.
"Well I think I'll take it one sport at a time. Starting with Soccer tryouts tommorrow."
"Like you need to go to tryouts when you're the Captain." Duncan rolled his eyes, catching a football one of his passing teammates threw to him and throwing it long down the hallway back at him, nearly hitting the school's infamously strict english teacher in the process.
"Well it is tradition--and I swear, one of these days you're going to hurt someone." She sighed, looking at the clock. "Almost time for homeroom. I'll see you at lunch?" She asked Scott.

"Sounds good to me. I'll look forward to it" he replied as he began to turn away. "Im sure i'll see you around as well Duncan!" he yelled, then muttered "Unfortunately."
The first day back at Bayville High was finally about to begin. Scott walked anxiously towards his homeroom, not quite knowing what to expect of the year to come. His homeroom was down at the other end of the hall. He would have to hurry to get there in time. He looked forward to another interesting and rewarding year of school, but would this year be different. Only time could tell that.

Duncan led Jean to their shared homeroom, where she took the time to run through her schedule amidst the flurry of thrown notes and paper airplanes. Not a bad schedule all in all. Four classes before lunch, with twelfth grade Physical Education third period. She just hoped that wouldn't be a class Duncan and Scott would take a little too physically.
Then lunch fifth. A nice, peaceful, mid-school day break. It was a nice day so they'd probably sit outside in the Quad instead of the cafeteria proper.
It was good seeing everyone again though. Taryn managed to get her all caught up on everything she'd missed while she had been 'studying' at the Institute.
Time seemed to go by fast, as the first day was always the easiest. So it seemed like no time at all before she was walking with her lunch tray out to the Quad to meet Scott.

Ororo was actuallly awake very early that morning, having gone out for a jog around the grounds. She had come back and showered, preparing herself for the day to come. Walking out into the dining area, she saw Professor Xavier sitting at one of the far empty tables that were usually set aside for the faculty. Approaching him she smiled.
"Good Morning Professor." She said cheerfully as she walked to his side.

"And to you Ororo." Xavier nodded in her direction, pressing a button on the remote to turn off the television before turning to look at the woman. "You look wide awake. That's good. I was hoping you might join me in welcoming a new student to the institute. He's scheduled to arrive at the train station in about an hour."

The first day back at Bayville High was similar for Scott. Nothing seemed of any real importance to him yet. Homeroom flew by with nothing but a few familiar faces and a quick roll call. English and Science class were the same way. Everything just went by as a blur with all the information thrown at him. All he had managed to get out of it was a few notes, teachers names, and class locations. Though he felt confident that the rest of the year would be much less hectic.
It seemed almost instant that he was off to lunch to meet up with Jean.
He took a tray from the stack and walked over to the Cafeteria line. "So whats on the menu today?" he said looking at the stack of red-orange lumps behind the glass.
"Thats for me to know and for you to find out." the cafeteria lady replied coldly, slopping a single slab on Scott's plate making an odd "THWAP" sound.
He shuddered at the sound. "Thanks." he said unenthusiastically, turning to leave. Walking out to the Quad he saw where Jean was sitting. He walked over to her and took a seat. Scott looked down at the mass on his tray, poking it several times with his fork. Picking it up slowly, he looked at Jean.
"So how is your first day going so far?" He asked taking a bite from his mystery meat. "Tasty."

Ororo looked a bit surprised. She was seeing many new faces in the institute recently.
"Of course. Whats their name?" She smiled as she sat by him and looked to him with gentle eyes.

"Kurt Wagner." Charles said, backing his wheelchair away from the table. "A seventeen year old from Germany, which is why I was away a couple weeks ago. His parents were nervous about his coming here, but I managed to pursuade them that he would be safe and welcomed."
-----
"Not bad at all." Jean said, looking at the contents of his fork ominously before deciding that the prepackaged orange juice she had grabbed from the vending machine was a safer alternative to the meat substance that seemed about ready to eat through the styrofoam plate. "I have some decent teachers this year, at least so far."
She looked around the area before looking back to Scott, green eyes meeting red glasses. "By the way I'm sorry about how Duncan was treating you before. I mean, I know it's risky for you to join sports, and you obviously know, but Duncan..."

She smiled, nodding to the Professor. "Sounds like he will be a wonderful addition to our family here..." Ororo had always thought of the children and her companions as family, the only family she had left.
"We better get going if we are to make it to the train station on time, Professor."

He nodded. "Indeed. I hope you don't mind driving today Ororo." He said, rolling out to the lobby.

"Wonderful." Xavier smiled as he wheeled his way outside and towards the garage. It really was a beautiful day, and he hoped that they would see many like it in the future. He looked over to his white-haired companion thoughtfully. "You know Ororo, I really do hope to see these grounds well used someday."

Ororo looked to him, slightly confused by his statement but thought nothing of it. She smiled as they reached a plain looking silver Dodge Caravan, obviously a newer model. Se reached into her hoodie pocket and pulled out the keys.
"Are you all set, Professor?" She asked thoughtfully.

He nodded happily, accepting her help to get from his chair into the car. "Quite ready Ororo. Do you think Scott and Jean's first day is going well? I hope they haven't run into any trouble."
